Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church

(click the book to see it on Amazon.com!)
Whoa! What's a compendium?
A compendium is a shorter version of a larger document, or of a collection of documents.
What's the Compendium of the Catechism?
It's a shorter edition of the Catechism of the Catholic Church (which is over 800 pages!). The Compendium has all of the Church's main teachings in it, but in a shorter, easier-to-remember format!
What are some features of the Compendium?
There are two really awesome features of the Compendium that we want to tell you about:
- It has beautiful artwork in it, chosen by Pope Benedict himself!
- It has a great appendix of traditional prayers, in both English and Latin!
What? Latin?!
Yup. You see, Latin is the official language of the Church. Even when we are with people who speak different languages, we can still pray together, if we know the prayers in Latin!
How can I learn these traditional prayers?
We're glad you asked! We've got all of the prayers, in English and in Latin, online. And, you can even listen to (or download!) the Latin version so that you can practice along with it! Use the links below to listen to the prayers.
Wait! Can I see some of the Church's teaching from the Compendium also?
Sure! Here is a sample paragraph. You can even hit "reload" to see another!
92. Did Christ have a true human body? (The numbers below refer to the corresponding paragraphs in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.)
476-477
Christ assumed a true human body by means of which the invisible God became
visible. This is the reason why Christ can be represented and venerated in
sacred images.
